CSNE Certification Program

Computer Systems and Network Engineering

The computer systems and network engineering program at MVNU includes the following requirements:

  1. Three approved certifications
  2. Three additional approved certifications or in place of each certification, two hours of course credit (CSC courses at level 2000 and above) may be substituted (0-6 Credit hours)

Thus all students are required to complete between 3 and 6 certifications.

Timing

Goal: Complete one certification per semester starting as soon as sophomore year, until complete

Your three to six certifications will need to be complete by graduation. In addition, it is required to have at least one networking certification prior to starting the Networking Practicum course, and at least one server related certification prior to starting the server practicum.

The time required to prepare for a certification exam is typically 3-6 months. It is thus suggested that you begin earning a certification each semester starting with first semester of your sophomore year.

Remember - you will not receive your degree in this major until this requirement is complete. If you all courses are complete, but not the certifications, you may be able to walk in the graduation, but you will not receive your degree until MVNU receives confirmation of completed approved certifications.

The requisition must include the name and description of the certification, along with a URL for the organization providing the certification. Test Preparation

There are a variety of methods to prepare for an exam. Many books exist that can be used for study. Online and in-seat courses exist, which may be purchased at a (sometimes high) cost.
