Requirements

  • Permanent - Will be in use as long as the hardware lasts
  • Sercure - Possibly have the ablity to track stolen laptops
  • Must be easy to use and maintain (10th grade level)
    • Written instructions required
  • Reliable as possible within cost restraints (Annual Maintenance)
  • System should be as close to functional as possible in the next 3-4 weeks
Facts
  • Wikipedia is localcopy (updated annual)
  • Internet speed 400kbps to 1Mbps
  • Apache for Opensisand possibly combined with freeNAS/Samba
  • Router used is DDWRT
Server
  • Most likely a dual core laptop with up to 8GB of ram
  • Will 2 cores be enought?
    • Two laptops
    • Desktop build
  • Budget per system $250 - $300
  • Decide on OS
    • Windows
    • Ubuntu
  • Decide on Virtual Machine

  • pfSense NAT - Kevin and Mary (Finished)
  • Wikipedia - Tyler (Finished - Wiki needs built)
  • OpenSIS - Jim Lahm (Status Unknown)
  • Samba/FreeNas - Kevin and Mary (In Progress)
