Grant's ProjectStatus

Current Overall Status Statement

The project has been completed. The majority of the system does not come close to the original specification of features because many of these were deemed too ambitious for the current time frame. However, the basic functionality of the system has been established and tested. Users have the ability to download web pages and combine them into an archive which they can then download. Now that the initial version of the system is ready, additional features and design changes can be made to improve on the original release.

Risk Management

Risk Identification

Risk type Possible Risks
Technology Physical server may prove unreliable
People David keeps asking me to play Settlers
Organizational N/A
Tools Unfamiliar with Python; learning curve may prove a handicap
Requirements Security requirements are vague--need to be firmly defined
Estimation N/A

Risk analysis and Prioritisation

Risk Probability Effects
Physical server may prove unreliable Moderate Serious
David keeps asking me to play Settlers High Insignificant
Unfamiliar with Python; learning curve may prove a handicap Moderate Tolerable
Vague security requirements High Tolerable

Risk management strategies

Risk Strategy
Physical server may prove unreliable Devise a way to regularly backup system
David keeps asking me to play Settlers Ignore him, say "NOT RIGHT MEOW!!", slap him and laugh as he cries like a little girl, or tell Dr. Skon that I cannot work under these conditions
Unfamiliar with Python Read ample documentation before attempting to write code; continue to assess feasibility of language as I attempt to use it
Vague security requirements Research common security requirements and how to define them; create similar requirements

Risk Reduction Activities

Specific Activities Planned of activities to address top risks

Risk Mitigation Activity Start Date Hours Alloc % Done Finish Goal Date Done Current Status/Outcome
Physical server may prove unreliable System was moved to personal laptop     100%     Finished
David keeps asking me to play Settlers Varies 01-05-2011 0% 05-21-2011   LOSING MY MIND
Unfamiliar with Python Reading documentation, assess situation     0%     Abandoned
Vague security requirements Beyond current scope of project     0%     Abandoned
