The project's current status is "Phase 2 Complete". Phase 1 was completed last semester when the game version in which the user drew ships in opposing boxes was delivered. This semester's version with it's evolved gameplay requirements has been completed, and is ready to move into the next phase in which in-game tutorials, the ability to save fleets, and further general improvements will be introduced.

Requirements for phase 2 included:

  • The drawing phase will be enhanced to have users draw one craft at a time, with a grid displaying number of craft drawn and giving the user the option to draw more.
  • New feature in which users choose weaponry (from a given selection of weapons) and place it on their craft.
  • On game start, users will be immediately prompted to draw in order to gain immediate user interaction.
  • Near the user’s drawing box will be looping instructional clips showing user how to draw craft, in what direction, how to equip it with weapons, etc. (Incomplete)
  • The game will have music playing throughout the drawing phase, and perhaps also during the battle phases (Complete)

Other notable achievements that were not in the requirements for this phase:

  • Addition of functionality for tracking and limiting amount of "ink" a user has used
  • Added tools for painting in multiple colors and erasing
  • Ability to draw in a scaled-up version of the yard, so that users can draw ships in more detail as they are scaled back to their original size
