What are the steps (types of control) one must take in order to establish secure networks with network controls? What roles do they play?

  1. Prevention control – this step is for authenticating authorized users and blocking unauthorized ones.
  2. Detection control – to set up a monitoring system which helps identify threats. It triggers alarms when it does detect such threats.
  3. Response control – Take action when security is breached, and stop further damage.
