BELIZE MEETINGS FOR EVERYONE GOING TO BELIZE

There are large group meetings for ALL those going to Belize. They are scheduled for five different Tuesdays throughout the semester (dates below). These CANNOT be rescheduled. as they are required of everyone going to Belize (about 55 people) to prepare us for the international experience. These are7:00-8:00:

- November 13, FA 105
- November 27, FA 105

January 2013 Class Information

Planning is underway for a 2013 January term offering of ITD5033 Senior Colloquium in Belize. Information is still tentitive, but is summerized below:

  • Depart from Columbus Airport Wednesday, January 2, 2013
  • Return to Columbus Airport Friday, January 25
  • Estimated cost: $2000 on campus, $2300 off campus students
  • Limited Enrollment (22 maximum)
  • $100 non-refundable down payment to secure registration, based on first come. (Counts toward final cost)
  • All expenses are included except for personal spending.
  • All students must also sign up for one credit hour of ITD2089 Section 1 MIssion and Ministry in January 2013 (see below)
  • Fall Requirement: All students must also attend Preparation Sessions in fall 2012
    • CSC5033 has a significant academic component, and requires research and study
    • The sessions in the fall presents important foundational content, and allows students to prepare or the January experience.
    • This course is not credited, and will not effect your fall charges or credit loading
    • It will meet every Tuesday evening from 7:00-8:30.
    • Attendance is required ... however there may be alternatives for special circumstances.
  • Coursework includes:
    • 4 position papers and 2 debates.
    • Final ethics project in your field of study.
    • Pretrip reading in BOTH Christain Ehtics and Belize history and culture
    • Projects in Belize (building labs in schools, working with children)
    • Other work projects as possible.
  • Activitites may include:
    • Mayan Ruins
    • Jungle River Boat Cruise
    • Snorkeling
    • Swimming
    • Cave Tubing
    • Hiking, visiting towns
  • Course Cap: 22 students.

ITD2089 Mission and Ministry

All students who take the Belize version of Senior Colliquim must also register in ITD2089 MIssion and Ministry. This is a 1 credit hour course.

Fall 2012 Meeting Schedule

Meeting will be each Tuesday beginning at 7:00 PM. All meetings ARE REQUIRED, and attendance counts toward your final grade. If you must miss a meeting, you must contact Dr. Skon in advance and give the reason. If the absense is approved, you may then receive credit for the missed meeting by viewing the videos (on this page), and emailing Dr. Skon a 1-2 page talking points outline and/or narrative.
