Software Development Program Acceptance Requirements

Applicants are selected based on their academic background and professional expertise. They are expected to have completed a minimum of 56 transferable academic credits, including:

  1. at least one course in computer programming;
  2. a college-level course in discrete mathematics or equivalent course.
  3. acollege writing course.
For students without course work in in either of these areas, MVNU provides the following options:
  1. Two courses are available in the MVNU general studies program to fulfill these requirement:
    • CSC10x3 Fundamentals of Computer Programming in Java
    • MAT1053 Elementary Discrete Math
    • ENG1083 College Writing
  2. For applicants with experience or background in these areas, but no formal course credit, MVNU provides an examination option for each of these courses. Students will be required to achieve a xx% score on the examination to meet the requirement.
  3. With the approval by MVNU, courses may be taken and transfered from another accredited school to meet these requirements.
Students will not be formally accepted into this major until these requirements are met.
